Spring 2017

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. (Luke 24:6-7)

When the women went to Jesus' tomb early that first day of the week, they did not expect to see the stone rolled away and the body of the Lord gone. They were expecting to anoint His body and perhaps spend some time in quiet reflection. Indeed, they had forgotten what the Lord had taught them in the days leading up to His death. Thus, they were confused and afraid. But the angels comforted them and gave them the good news of our Lord's resurrection. Through His resurrection, we who are saved will also rise again and thus spend eternity in heaven with Him. Glory be to our Lord for His loving sacrifice on the cross to redeem us.

Ministry News

We had a beautiful Easter morning as we celebrated Easter in Luncsoara. Several young moms, teens and their younger siblings attended the service. Luke's message contrasted simply believing in Christ with putting our faith in Christ for salvation. He then closed with an invitation. Family photo Easter 2017Please pray for those who came forward that they would understand their need of salvation and that they would not delay in asking the Lord to forgive their sins and thus receive the free gift of eternal life.

In February, our team began a new ministry called "Potter's Club." We meet on Sunday afternoons after church, which encourages the teens to be in the service. Most of the teens who come to youth group on Thursdays are now also coming on Sundays. The goal of the club is to teach the teens practical life skills while also opening up new opportunities to share the gospel. Dave is teaching guitar, Luke is doing reading/writing, Kim is teaching English, while Ruth is helping Nicki with a drawing/art class. Praying for Your Missionaries

We were recently asked by one of our supporting churches how they could better pray for us. One of the challenges we face as foreigners is navigating government bureaucracy. Recently we needed to renew our visas, and we spent several weeks waiting for a document from the government agency that handles religious organizations. It was stressful as the days went by, and we were approaching the deadline. In the end, God worked it out, and our visas were renewed. We only received a two-year renewal this time instead of five, but we are thankful that we can remain here without any interruption.

Sharing Christ in Daily Life

Recently Celeste met a young man at her team’s handball match. When he learned that she was from the US, she told him about our ministry. He was amazed that we would be called specifically to serve here. She was able to continue that conversation into one about the gospel. It was a powerful reminder not only of God’s unique call in our lives, but also of how we must always be ready to share the gospel whereever we are. Has the Lord been speaking to you?

Summer Ministry Update

Speaking of short-term ministry, we are thankful for the Mackey family who responded to our call for helpers to serve alongside our team this summer during VBS. Pray for all the details as they prepare to come and that their time would be fruitful, especially in the lives of their three girls. We can still accommodate others who may like to experience short-term ministry in Romania. Contact us via email or 513-328-3834.
