October 2007

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:9)

Dear Praying Friends and Ministry Partners,

Many examples are recorded in Scripture of men who heard the call of God and responded with obedience. What made them special? Why did God use them? Simply put, they were listening for God. They were walking God. They were righteous in God's eyes. Genesis 6:8-9 tells us that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. He was just and perfect in his generation. Can that be said of you?

Deputation Update
We are thankful for the many opportunities to present our ministry over the past month. At Waterford Baptist (Erie, PA) we shared during their evening service and potluck dinner on Sept. 1. On Sept. 9 we visited Crossroad Baptist (New Carlisle, OH). Pastor McDonald is the nephew of a family in our church, and we had lunch with the assistant pastor and his wife who are on deputation to England.

Sept. 15-17 we participated in the missions conference at Faith Baptist (Wilmington, OH). Pastor Garlock was formerly on staff at our church and was later called to Faith Baptist. The informal Q&A time on the final evening of the conference was a special time of fellowship.

The following Sun. morning we visited Faith Baptist Church (South Bend, IN). Pastor Perkins and his wife are dear friends of Ruth's parents, so once again we had a sweet family connection. When the choir entered in their beautiful robes, Amber said, "Mommy, they all have the same shirts!" That evening we were at Ormas Baptist Church (Ormas, IN). After the service, we shared an evening of fellowship with Pastor Schuller and his family. Our girls loved playing with the Schullers' three daughters and their dolls.

On Sept. 28, Dave's parents hosted a reception for us and invited many of their friends who had been unable to hear our ministry presentation previously. On Sept. 29-Oct. 3 we were part of the missions conference at Meadowbrook Baptist (Lima, OH), only 5 min. from Dave's parents. We enjoyed interacting with two other missionary families: the Bargers, on furlough from Norway, and the Maynards, on deputation to Ecuador. We are thankful for the many blessings, including the bonfire time, missionary closet items, and the trip to a Christian book store and Twelve Baskets Ministries. The church even planned a special celebration for Dave's birthday on Oct. 3.

Our most recent meeting took place on Oct. 6-7 at Faith Baptist Church (Commercial Point, OH). On Sat. we were welcomed with a morning brunch and an evening bonfire. The girls enjoyed the horseback riding and the Jr. Missionary Conference. On Sun. Dave taught the men's Sunday School, and we presented our ministry to two groups in the evening. Here are our meetings for the rest of Oct. and early Nov:

  • 10/14 West Hill Baptist Church, Akron, OH (AM)
Bible Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, PA (PM)
  • 10/21-23 Lindale Baptist Church, Amelia, OH
  • 10/24-26 Temple Baptist Church, Martinsville, VA
  • 10/28 Bible Baptist Church, Madison, OH
  • 11/2-5 Calvary Baptist Church, Ocala, FL
New Home for Cody
We are thrilled to share that our dog, Cody has a new home. We continue to marvel at God's timing and His providence. While it was the most difficult for Dave, we know Cody is in good hands. When the new owner arrived, he spent time getting to know us better and was interested in hearing about Romania. He also gave a generous gift toward our ministry.

New Blog
We have started a new blog that will help us stay in touch with you between prayer letters: blog.kimmelfamily.com.
